Im not sure I can be of any help, but I shot a portsmouth today and scored 565 with inner ten but would have had 592 with the outer ten. i think its a case of focusing on the very middle of the target and not being happy with anything inside the 9. Easier said than done!!!

The key I find is to work on you shot routine,
They are some very good threads on here that take you through it from stance to shot execution .
start each new round with a new face and look for patterns in you shooting if you are struggling get someone to watch you shoot to see if they can spot any inconsistency. but most of all practice, practice, practice,
Good Luck Rich

I shoot with a ring rather than a dot in the scope.

Recently I have switched from just being happy with framing the gold in the scope to picking out a spot and really concentrating on it until the arrow hits it. If I really follow through properly and concentrate right to the end the arrow goes pretty much perfectly where I aim it. I still don't manage it every shot, but the percentage of 10's goes up as I concentrate better. It can be hard when there are no marks on the target to pick something to concentrate on. It can be even harder when a dark spot develops away from the middle (easy for the concentration to be drawn). If that happens I try and concentrate on aiming at the pale patch just next to it.

It \also helps to get into a positive frame of mind. It is much easier to get the aiming right when you believe in yourself. Try reading "With winning in mind" by Lanny Basham. Great book.

Good luck

one spot or three spot?
fewer kiss-outs on three spot!

the r/c tens you are getting - is there any pattern to them?
are they pretty random round the r/c 10 or do they go 6/12 oclock (up/down) or 3/9 oclock (left right)?
do you never get the c10 or is it just that more of your arrows go in the rc10 than c10? what sort of %age are hitting the c10?

what is your current set up?

I altered my technique at the same time as reverting to my beiter longrod.. couldn't hit the middle for toffee but put it down to the change in technique. This carried on with no improvement.. Hoyt hooligan removed the weights from my fuse and put that on - couldn't miss the middle!!!

Try different stabilisation just to see what happens!

With all due reverence to your purpleness, would an alternative be to understand what your stabilisation does and whether it is doing what it should to the best of its potential, as opposed to random changes?

the changes I make to anyone?s set up is to how the bow reacts during and after the shot there is nothing random about it

Not suggesting that you are making random changes. Just my reaction to my interpretation of LMPs posting.

you should know me by now that i don't do technical - that's what the pit crew are for.... but it stands to reason if the bow is reacting better then the shot will be better.

You just can't win on this forum.. regardless of how you answer its always wrong!

I'm with LMP. That's a good place to start.
If your rod is kicking up, add weight out the front.
If it is wobbling left and right add weight out the front.
If you simply need more mass (can't hold the bow down) then add to the riser.
If it is canting, add to bottom of riser or out to the side (be careful adding to the side though)

Currently I have a 34" ACE rid with 8 weights and 1 doinker. Nice.

ps... the 'just to see what happens' bit is because each person & their bow are different - just because it works for me doesn't me it will work for them (but Marcus has added more pointers anyway)

Tonight i hi 13 c 10's 38 recurve 10's. I shoot a hoyt razortec 29" triad long rod with doinker acc arrows tt1 rest..
There are lots of questions and to be honest I need to see people shoot before offering true advice. You live in Hull see if you can get Martin Holtby to watch you shoot he's been around a while to say the least.
ps get some big fat arrows 2314s acc's will cost you points

Interesting post. It would be really good to know what you look for in how the bow reacts.

For most of the rest of us, who just shoot...a pointer om what to llok for in bow reaction would be great.

I think I have picked up some from various posts, and from my own shooting. Getting further information from the experienced would be great.
