Jager Grips - two different types

Hi everybody I have just joined and this is my first attempt to get some help. I am thinking of buying a Jager grip for my old Hoyt Matrix as the shiny plastic grip it comes with can get very slippy. I noticed that Jager offer two different grip styles (the original and mark two) and I was wondering if anybody could explain the difference between the two ? Has anybody ordered direct from America or have they gone through Centre Shot ? Many thanks

Hey, I also have a hoyt matrix and find the plastic grip can get a bit slippery. I have considered the Jager grip but I can't justify spending ?50 on a grip just yet. Also, I'm worried that if I do get it, what if it doesn't turn out to be suitable for me.

I think ordering from America works out cheaper if there's no customs charge, or even with the customs charge it may be a little cheaper. I'm not 100% sure if there will be a customs charge but I assume there will be.

Just ordered one from USA. Grip arrived in less than 2 weeks. No custom charge. Very happy.....

So it cost you $59 total or $69 for the custom one? Which one did you get and how does it compare to the plastic grip?

The grip on the left is the Jager BEST 1.0 grip, on the right the BEST 2.0

Not been shooting the 2.0 all that long, but so far I'm really liking it. the v1.0 does seem a bit weird at first, but is an excellent grip. I am undecided at the moment which one I prefer.

I got the 1.90 grip when I got my riser. I ordered the 2.0 grip directly from Jager - took a couple of weeks to arrive & no duty etc.

I've also seen the matrix with a hoyt wood grip, although my one came with a plastic grip. The wood grips are very hard to come by it seems.

I got my recurve grip from Linecutter, and my compound grip from Centreshot. The grips do make a difference, plenty of grip, not slippy, warmer than wood or metal.
Apart from it not being slippery or cold, what other advantage does it have? Do you prefer the shape of the jager grip to your original grips? If its just a matter of slippery then I can make do with my current grip as its not that bad.

The shape and surfaces guide your hand everytime you draw the bow. There is added consistancy to each shot. Less torque and you can still customise it for shape. I prefer the Jagers to my original grips. I know that it is a lot to spend, but it is your connection to the bow, every shot.

I think I'll wait a while before I replace my grip. I've only had my bow for a month. Wingate, do you have the jager 1.0 or 2.0?

I have had both direct from the state's. Version 1 on my old matrix and version 2 on my fiberbow. Both are excellent grips and a huge step up from the horrible plastic grip that comes with the matrix. I really like the best grip 2 sits easily in exactly the same place in my palm every time.

Well, I think I'll have to get it now! Do you think it's worth paying an extra $10 for the custom coloured grip? Otherwise it's only available in brown or black.

Hello,
I also have the Jager mk1 handle which was kindly given to me by Swift after I brought his Inno riser.
It is different and takes a short while to get used to but I loved it, I have switched back to the original Inno plastic grip but have put some absorbant tape simular to tennis racket/cricket/squash but I am using a wrap called Vetwrap that my wife uses for her horses if the have cuts etc. It come in various colours and is self gripping so you just need to tape the edges. I find that it helps in the same why as the Jager as I can add bits to pad out the grip to suit my hand.
Maybe try wrapping some tape around the grip like I did may help when you get sweaty palms, as it may be cheaper than buying a grip but Jager do make good grips so maybe have a look on the Jager website and contact Paul, I found him a very nice chap. :)

I think for 10 bucks its worth it, the one I have has a red swirl which matches the bow.

I got a Jager mk1 from ebay, fitted it and instantly hated it. It just seemed too bulbous to fit my palm. I took a chamfer off the left edge with my Dremel and suddenly it was great. Looking at Darth's pics, I'd pretty much resculpted it from a Jager mk1 into a Jager mk2.

Thanks for the pictures. What riser are them for? I was thinking of trying one (2.0) on my Hoyt GMX but your pictures made me back off. It must be OK but I think the modifications I made (with Sugru) to the original grip suit me better. My modification included a cut (though not as pronounced) to the bottom part to better accomodate the palm on the grip and that thanks to the pictures on Jager site.
