[Horsebow] Where to get a leather thumb ring/tab from?

I've been shooting off my thumb with just a bit of tape wrapped round. After an hour or so it's getting a bit ouchy so I'm thinking about getting some kind of leather tab or wrap just to go around the pad. Where could I get one from?

I'm not interested in the horn rings for the moment, I just need a bit more protection.

Thanks for any help :)

I made one. :) (although I have to admit I don't use it much, my thumb isn't strong enough for my bow).

Really rather simple to be honest. bit of boot leather (upper) from an old boot, cut to a vaguely 'T' shape and also made adjustable by using velcro fastener on the open loop that goes around the thumb.

Works fine. :)

Remember as well that a thumb-ring with a notch in it is considered a 'release-aid' by AGB (GNAS) and (iirc) NFAS as well. Quicks I believe sell notched thumb-rings.

Will take and post photos if anyone is interested?

Yes please Riceburner - photos would be fab :)

I haven't got any spare leather going. Is it the type of thing you can get in a craft shop?

There's a store on ebay - leather hides uk who sells offcuts. I just bought a 2Kg bag of hair on offcuts to make tab faces out of. He's got lots of different leathers.

mine are same a Riceburner - top off old deck shoe/loafer, cut to T-ish-shape, some with velcro fasteners,
some with lacing/thong to tie.

Right, I gave it a crack and I don't think it turned out too bad but I'll see what it's like to shoot in. I'm hoping the leather will soften a bit as I go along. Thanks everyone :)
