Jager Grips - two different types

Here are a couple of pictures of my riser. Any advice on grip colours to match?
To be honest, I would spend more time shooting your bow at the moment, than considering splashing a load of cash on fancy grips.

You've said before you've only been shooting 5 or 6 weeks, and only shot your bow a couple of times - worry about getting the basics right & nailed into the subconscious etc before starting to mess about with things...

Once you have been shooting for a decent while, you then understand the limitations etc of your kit, and how it could be altered to best assist with your style of shooting.

Don't try to run before you can walk....just shoot!!!

Yes, I was planning on waiting a while before thinking about changing my grip, but people keep tempting me by making me feel my grip is no good!! Don't worry, I'll wait it out until I genuinely feel that my current grip is having a detrimental effect to my shooting.

Mk1 on a Winact riser. Black on black. I have a red swirl on black on the Elite XLR.

So it cost you $59 total or $69 for the custom one? Which one did you get and how does it compare to the plastic grip?
I got a black on black 2.0 for $59 for my GMX. It looks just like Darth's. it really encourages a 45deg hand position. Any other position the grip feels "angular" and wrong. This is good BTW! With your hand correctly positioned it feels natural and repeatable. I like it.

I have the BEST 1's on my old-style Hoyt recurves and really like them. I'd like to get the BEST 2's for my Axis risers but that style is not yet available left handed... :(

I've tried the best 1.0 and the 2.0 and I found that i like the 2.0 better but I would like to try a higher wrist version of the 2.0
So I will probably sell the two version 2.0s that I have
At the mo I'm using the hoyt high grip on my hpx
Which I find more consistent

Do you have a jager grip that fits the old hoyt matrix recurve??

Hello I'm not sure I've got two both fit the gmx rx hpx nexus not sure about the matrix I think the grip area on the matrix is wider but I can check there's a bloke at the other club I'm a member of has got one so I can see if it fits but I won't see him for a week or so
Cheers

Actually, I don't think your one fits the matrix. The nexus has a different grip. Thanks anyway 😊

Jager grip - confused

Sorry for bringing an old thread back to life but better than starting a new one!

If any of you Jager grip owners are still here... I just got a Jager Low 2.0 for my Hoyt Buffalo.

I'm a RH shooter.

But the grip feels very comfortable in my right hand, not at all in my left! The corner of the cutaway digs into my left palm.

I'd show you photos but the upload system here is useless...

Thanks

Then you're gripping the bow too much. Knuckles at 45? instead of straight up-down:

Thank but what I'm really asking is, do I have the correct grip? Or did I accidentally get one that is meant for LH shooters?

(quite difficult to show you what I mean without being able to upload a couple of photos here)

Hold the riser upright, turn it so the grip is facing you, in the same orientation as it would be if you were going to shoot it.

Is the left edge of the grip higher than the right? That is, does the grip surface slope away from you going left to right?

If so, then it's a right-handed grip.

The Jager FAQ section that explains the difference between the grip models might be useful for you: https://jagerarchery.com/faq/

Specifically this bit talks about the high BEST style grip, but is also applicable to the 2.0, in my experience of these grips:

"For those who have never seen one before, I fairly often get an email asking if I sent the opposite hand grip. Based purely on comfort, the High BEST Style Grip feels quite nice on the opposite hand. This is only a coincidence, and the easiest way to determine if you have the correct grip for your bow is whether it fits on the bow. A left handed grip won?t fit on a right handed bow and vice versa."

Just like the picture that Thom posted, John? Yes mine is the same as that.

Thanks!

So I hold that grip in my left hand and draw with my right, ie, I am a right-handed shooter, yes? (just to be 100% clear about this!)
That's the definition of a right handed archer.
But it's the "hold" part you're probably doing wrong. Once you have tension on the bowstring, you don't have to hold the bow anymore (simply put; your left arm is basically there to keep the bow away from your face ; ).

Knuckles at 45?, index and thumb pointing towards the target, fingers and wrist completely relaxed.

It's not even on the riser yet as I was unsure if I'd been sent the correct one. I emailed Jager a few times but no response, hence why I reached out to the forum.

When it arrived, just holding the grip, it felt so wrong in my left hand and fits so well in my right hand, that I was convinced he has sent me a LH shooters grip.

But... seems the grip is correct and is for a RH shooter.
