  • M4 Jn 43, A465 Heads of Valleys Road
A465 towards Merthyr for about 16 miles
R'bout signed Treherbert - go right
Next r'bout, left, again to Treherbert on A4061
    Keep going...
First proper traffic lights, cross roads, shops.
    Go straight on
Next set of lights straight on
    Beware Gatso!
Watch out for turning on right, should be signed Gelli: take it, go over railway
Go left where the road bends sharply to the right
Turn right almost immediately, at tyre/exhaust place
    Through ind. est.
Turn left on to tree-lined road; limit 40 mph; Gatso
The turning to Glyncornel ie Pentref will be on your right, after the speed limit reverts to 30.
Careful - it's just round a bend and can take you by surprise.
Up hill; car park on right.

    Hi Ceri

To get to Pentref from Carmarthen you've got two main routes, both involving the M4. You choose which one you think you prefer...

    1. M4 to Jn 34; A4119 to Rhondda
Follow A4119 across lights and roundabouts for about 10 miles
You'll eventually come to a roundabout signposted Cwm Clydach and council offices straight on; turn right here, going down a steepish hill.
    Next roundabout, turn left
Traffic lights (Asda and McDonalds on right) go straight on
Next lights turn left (should be signposted to Treorchy)
Almost immediately there is a small turning on your left (between two walls) up a steep hill. This is the approach to Pentref. If I remember, I'll put a target sign there.
The carpark's on the right, near the top of the hill.

See next message for alternative route

    Can you help?

    Thanks Ruth
