    Cheapish training limbs

Another vote for the SF (now WNS) budget limbs. All the ones I've had have been straight and pretty smooth. Better than some limbs several times the price that I've shot, to be honest.

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Statement from WMG committee on their FB page: "The World Masters Games 2021 of the public interest foundation will be held as usual from may 14, 2021 at the kansai organization committee. It will be held in the same year due to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and paralympic games...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Pushing later in the year will be difficult because of the seasons. I understand those people who play with funny shaped balls had some trouble when they went to Japan last year experienced that. Postponement is going to be hugely expensive and problematic, and not just because of clashes with...

I agree. If the Olympics is pushed to 2021, then the WMG will likely either be postponed as well, or even cancelled altogether.

Are you still booking in to tournaments?

I had already booked three, and may book a few more as they open up. *But*, I'll follow the news, read what the experts say [1], and act accordingly. And if a shoot I've booked is cancelled, then I'll expect a refund. [1] As in epidemiologists and other medical specialists with relevant...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Wow. In NZ, there were a lot Kiwi archers, as you can imagine, but they by no means dominated the competition.

World masters Games - Japan 2021

I got different values when I tallied up the numbers (I think about 300 for Lausanne?), but yes, they absolutely should have taken those factors into account. I really expected better. They seemed to be so well organised with their presence in Auckland and last year in Turin, and were very keen...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Do let us know if you get any replies. I've gone back and forth with them a few times, and they flatly refused to answer some specific questions, such as how many places they allowed in all the age groups and categories. All they confirmed was that they allowed 200 places for the indoor and...

    Archery clubs and inclusive names.

"Bowman" is gender specific. It's based on an assumption that "man/male" is the default gender. It's really that simple. "Archers" is a perfectly logical alternative. It takes so little effort to be more inclusive, and it's so very petty when people quibble about holding onto traditions that...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

At previous Games, competitors have had the option to shoot in any lower age category they chose; so 50-59 age group archers were able to shoot in the 40-49 category, for example. As my category was full, I asked why the booking system wouldn't let me drop an age category. I was told they...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Yes, as I said above, I don't think they took into account the fact that it's now the Masters Champs for archery. For example, at the WMG in Auckland, there were about 40 men in the 50-59 target recurve category for outdoor target. In Lausanne in 2018, there were 70. I suspect World Archery...

World masters Games - Japan 2021

Sadly not. I am very disappointed. I strongly suspect they neglected to look at the numbers for the 2018 Masters Archery Champs in Lausanne, and because of the competition schedule and venue, they're now in a position where they can't increase numbers to meet demand. I've contacted the IMGA and...

    Gillo GT Riser 2019

Depends on how many twists you can put into or take out of your string, I suppose :)

    Gillo GT Riser 2019

The BH definitely changes a bit, but more importantly, changing the limb bolt positions will *require* you to run a different bracing height. In other words, a bow with bolts all the way in will definitely need a different bracing height to shoot well than if its bolts were all the way out.

    Gillo GT Riser 2019

It still changes the position of the limb tips relative to the riser, so the limbs will behave differently at the extremes. Don't get me wrong: it's clear that some very good archers are having great results with it, but the engineering problem doesn't change. I'd be interested to hear from an...
