    "Beat The Virus" Online Leagues

I'm shooting the R-Core league, put my first score in yesterday, 241 at 7m barebow with 7.6mm arrows.

Should all club activities be cancelled?

So it seems the insurance hasn't been cancelled as such, but it'll be really hard to make a water tight claim if shooting while AGB have advised not to. It's a like towing a 2 ton caravan behind a 1.5 ton car, the car maybe able to tow 2 ton legally, but the caravan club and others do not...

Should all club activities be cancelled?

Our club sought advice from AGB and were basically told that AGB have suspended their insurance (our insurance to shoot). So our club have taken measures to stop shooting altogether, no indoor or outdoor shooting, the range is closed. Every AGB insured club needs to do the same, as if there is...

Gold at the Middlesex indoor open

The county match was Sunday, and we won by a slim 30 points :D I also got the highest barebow score of the day, so a good days shooting.

Are you still booking in to tournaments?

When pulling an arrow, you tend to pull with one hand and gather with the other hand, so using a puller will not stop the contact. Personally I'm not overly worried about this, but for those that are I thought it best to highlight it. I shall be discussing this with other archers on my boss...

Are you still booking in to tournaments?

As in our sport we cannot avoid hand/face contact it may be wise to pull our own arrows, other than that I see no real need to change what we do.

Archery.... is there a need for further change?

Geoff, yes we're still looking for ways to improve and I'm sure it will happen. It has been noted that other clubs in the area have falling numbers of membership, whereas we are growing, 4 years ago we had around 90 members, now it's around 130 I believe. The lack of positive posts is what...

Archery.... is there a need for further change?

I've been following this thread, and it just makes me more proud of our club (laleham archery club), we have over 100 members, our own range (we don't own it but it's available to us all year round with bosses setup all the time), a good number of coaches, we run have a goes, beginner's courses...

Archery.... is there a need for further change?

This just about sums up my archery experience so far, or at least on the line anyway. This is at the club level, local and national shoots, that said I shoot barebow and I find that other barebowers are even more friendly, maybe its something to do with being a minority (their are other bow...

    Archery clubs and inclusive names.

I wasn't aware that there are events that women are band from. The name of Clubs, Classifications etc is a good place to start. I'm not sure if completely removing the separation of scores is the right way to go though. Women's scores are generally lower than men's (not being sexist, records...

    Archery clubs and inclusive names.

There's a club in our county that has recently changed its name from "bowman" to "archers", this is for the reasons that have been talked about in this thread. So the change is happening at some clubs. It would be way to soon to see if it made any difference to the amount of female archers, only...

Gold at the Middlesex indoor open

It's been confirmed, I've made the county team :) I was in the team in 2018, missed the qualification shoot in 2019 due to family issues, back on the team for 2020.

    520!

That 500 is such psychological barrier, and once broken you gain so much confidence, soon you'll wonder why it was so hard to get there. Sounds like it's all just clicked for you, well done.

Gold at the Middlesex indoor open

In my last post I said the rivalry was not about to stop soon, well due to an recurring shoulder injury my brother has turned to the dark side, you know, the bow with the training wheels.

Gold at the Middlesex indoor open

I do to a point, however my twin brother also shoots BB and we are highly competitive between us. Shooting a PB or getting a medal is good, but beating my brother is better  We've had 50 years of this bitter (but good natured) rivalry and it's not about to stop soon.
