Should all club activities be cancelled?

I think you’re more likely to suffer from contracting Covid-19 than not shooting for a while.

    Easton X10s

Is there any empirical evidence to show that a top of the range, expensive, arrow like an Easton X10 has a better trajectory than a less expensive correctly spined and weighted arrow, if shot from the same bow? For example: if the spine and the GPP of the X10 and the un-named other arrow are the...

    SPIGARELLI BB 25" RISER

I can’t make the club shoot tomorrow so have sent a text to the archer I mentioned. Will report back.

    SPIGARELLI BB 25" RISER

I shoot a Stolid Bull Black Thunder riser. I love its heft which keeps me nice and steady at full draw and the neutral balance feel of the shot with no hand shock. Similar to what I’ve heard others say about the Spig BB in fact. I’d therefore be very interested to hear what you think of the...

    Christmas club shoots

Wot?! No tinsel? No sprig of holly? No bells on the riser? They make a very jingley sound when you loose - very festive. We are a bah humbug lot!

Do you decorate your bows for your festive shoots?

From the Lions' Den - A freestylers' journey.

The centre spot is like the centre of any 40cm or 60cm target so your “proper” stance should mean your arrow ends up in the centre of the target (normal aiming issues not withstanding). Your shoulders will have been level and low (not lifted, see other discussions on making sure the bow shoulder...

    The dreaded clicker...

As a bare bow archer I occasionally find myself giggling at my club mates whose after shot reaction goes: “Doh! (Expletive) clicker!” There are those who can’t pull through it, those who ignore it, those who hear it and freeze, those who think they heard it and shoot through it, those who can’t...

From the Lions' Den - A freestylers' journey.

Oh, I can't remember where it was mentioned but somebody asked me, if I could solve the riddle of the vertical 3-spot please post it. Talking to a very talented archer during a smoke-break it appears the answer is to always go to full draw on the middle target, then bend your waist a fraction...

From the Lions' Den - A freestylers' journey.

I shot a WA triple, barebow, in an indoor comp last year. I did ok on the top and middle faces but could not range in on the bottom one at all. It was just the same in practice before and afterwards when I tried to work out what was going on. Still haven’t to this day. Good luck next week!

are there heavier alternatives to NIBB points available for X7 Eclipse?

I don’t know the answer to this but Top Hat Archery’s website will. You can also email them and they’re normally very helpful and very quick to reply.

What do you think would be the best way, to help new bare bow archers......?

All good points and well made. Out L2 coach is a willing and helpful and is quick to grasp the essential differences between Oly v BB set up etc. I think you and he are on a par in that you both want to know all the nuances of archery which you can translate to helpful advice to all types of...

What do you think would be the best way, to help new bare bow archers......?

Tiller for bare bow needs to be understood by Oly coaches. Some bare bowers, as I am sure many here know, shoot zero or even negative tiller - something two of my three club coaches simply cannot comprehend. Mind you, one of them thinks raising brace height increases arrow speed! Nocking points...

What do you think would be the best way, to help new bare bow archers......?

The regional clinics idea is a good one. I’d give my eye teeth for a good local bare bow coach. One of our three club coaches has done level 2 (the others just level 1) and he admits there was nothing on the course specific to bare bow. I’ve learned the hard way, though trial and error, on-line...

Pressure buttons - how do they really work?

Excellent video. Looking at it closely I wonder if the button only starts to move outward again with the flex of the arrow, i.e. the arrow allows the button to move, or whether the button actually exerts a little outward pressure on the arrow thus helping the flex? Either way, it’s a fascinating...

    Dynamic tiller

I’ve been thinking about this over the past few days and read the article again. One thing I don’t yet understand is the balance of the bow. We set a static tiller, to eradicate vibration and limb flap etc, so that the limbs close at the same time. So, if we set a dynamic tiller (using the...
