[Warbow] How to use a stringer on a warbow/longbow

I've picked up a warbow. Definately needs a stringer to string. How do you use a longbow stringer. The bow in question has a single string groove in the bottom nock, and a double in the top nock. Many thanks, D

    Leather for handles

Hi, I'm trying to find a supplier of leather (ideally on a roll) that can be used for the grip of a bow. I have used tennis grips, but they have logos on. Ideally I'd like something logo free. Cheers, D

    finger glove advice

I'd appreciate your thoughts on shooting gloves. Currently use a 3 finger neet double seam finger glove - and use 1 finger over and two under the nock. I take a deep hook (this seems to give me better accuracy and smoothness to the release). The string actually lines up past my first finger...

    longbow - side profile; opinions

I am considering the design for my next bow. One thing I do not like with modern longbows is the very flat front. It just doesn't look right. I've depicted the profile in the picture above (4 and 5). I'm keen to make a bow with a slightly rounded front. For max power I will also try to keep the...

    Gemsbok Horn Bow (Oryx)

Hi, Has anyone in the UK tried to make a gemsbok horn bow as per the Traditional Bowyers Bible Volume 1. There look to be a couple of US sellers on ebay who supply the horn, but import into the UK is expensive. Also I do not know if gemsbok horn can be imported into the UK? Any experiences...

    Titanium Riser? Titanium Sight

Strikes me that Titanium would be a sweet material to use for a riser. Expensive yes - but light and strong :-) Maybe less extreme would be a sight extension made out of titanium. Would it be better than carbon? D

    bamboo

Well, my ELB still shooting fine; but it's only about 35-38lb and a bit too wimpy for me. I'm keen to make my next bow circa 60lb. (I've tried a clubmember's 65'lb and it's a serious pull; but do-able). I think i'll have a go making 2 bows at the same time; a bit of a batch production. one as...

are all sights the same fitment?

I'm shooting a Yamaha EX Custom with an Arten Deluxe thingy sight. The sight's not micro adjustment + every so often works loose; which is SOOOO annoying! If I was to replace the sight to something like a Shibuya Ultima; will the sight mounting block have the same position of screws; and do...

    Finally finished my bow!

It's taken a while (to find the time really); but I've tillered my ELB to around 35lb @ 29# draw. I'd like it to be a little stronger; but considering it is my first bow, I am very pleased. Shot a dozen arrows with the temporary nocks :-) It's a self lemonwood bow. I've stuck on some horn...

    New/old bow

Ok, so I've got myself an old Yamaha EX... Very pleased, should see me right until I can afford (and work out what I need) in terms of custom bought/new kit. I've been told that you could get different sized limb spacers for the limbs - to adjust bow weights? Don't suppose anyone has a source...

    What weight/size of arrow

I'm looking to make my own arrows (I'm a beginner). Ideally for a 40-50 lb longbow. I was thinking 3-4" fletches, plastic nocks, 100grain Brass piles, and 11/32" shafts. Does this sound like a good combo - or should I go for lighter/heavier arrows etc? I think I'd need 30-31" arrows in...
