Right so I got my new X10's - and in the process of tuning etc Now then being a tart - I'd like my logo's to last.. Has anyone tried clear nail varnish or something to avoid those arrow pullers wearing away the paint? or any other bright ideas that shouldn't affect flight atall/much? Yes - ok...

    Arrows 'better' spine - why?

Exactly why, because I'm not sure I understand...why would a set of arrows a spine or two 'out' group poorer than the 'right spined arrows'...or do they? and is it truly the case that the spine that bareshafts perfectly IS the best spine for grouping? thanks guys

    Petron Dual Click sight

Hi Y'all Looking for and I guess, to express opinion really. I just nabbed a petron dual click sight on ebay for next to nowt. 'Nowt' is what I guess many would say it's worth too. My only reason for buying it is that I want to experiment with bow action using a sight that hold the weight...

    beats me- drawing compound arrows

beats me- why drawing compound arrows can be made so much hard work. Forever we've been hearing 'put your back into it'. So 'put your back into it'- utilise the whole trunk from the hips up, and not just an arm which can somtimes lead to injury and certainly is harder work. thats my little...

    Which waterproof shooting coat?

Many of us complain that we just cant do with shooting in a coat or waterproof, and spend the rest of the day 'begrudgingly- but happily' soaked...sometimes for the cause of just a 2 minute shower! Sometimes our 'April showers' lasy all day too. ....so what 'wet layer' would you recommend for a...

    Witty, on-the-line put downs

only one I can think of right now that doesn't involve swearing or real abuse: ' you mean the wind was sooo strong that it blew your arrows back onto the boss ..' Tickled me it did! Any more?

nock tuning AND matching with a spine tester

Simple question.. Is it feasable to nock tune shafts, using a spine tester? Never having used one Im not sure if they are acurate enough to give a reading that shows the stiffest side of an arrow...and exactly how much stiffer Imagine it! .... ....an hour or so, to statically determine best...

    1&3/4 - or - 1&9/16

Has anyone actually compared the difference in 1& 3/4 spinwings to 1 9/16 spinwings for target shooting at range? What did you find? My 'guess' is that the shorter one produces less drag....but less 'steering' too...so is there any benefit? Why is it that when a dealer who stock's both sizes...

Carrying 2 sets of differently fletched arrows

well today was..er...not nice to shoot. A nice constant - but fullface Headwind and rain. Now - I was one of only four that are tough enough to shoot atall today....and on questioning the others ( who shoot plastic vanes- as opposed to my spinwings) I found that the easiest way to save my arrows...

    Thyroid - control, effect

Just got home from the quacks. Seems I have that old TSH and T4 imbalance again- as in previous years, where I got such the hump to the ups and downs of it all that i decided not to give it head space....to ignore it..make no excuses and get on with it, so to speak. Right now it feels like I'm a...

Using a timer, is it 'legal'

Today I shot a practice imperial round, shooting in sixes with a 4 minute electronic timer attached to my spotting scope, to get the feel of shooting a metric Fita round- you know to help me with timing of the six arrows. Question is: is it legal to shoot any round with an electronic timer ( or...

    820? whats special about that?

Finally got my new set up to a tune where I'm comfortable with it. And hit a new pb for an Albion today- only in practice- where I was robbed at the end of last season through injury and equipment failiure- but a taster of things to come this season I'm sure.... My first 800 PLUS Albion- yup a...

On the Back - or off the shoulder

How many of us actually think we are shooting, drawing, releasing off the back...but really we are not- a fair bit of weight is still on the shoulder? I have just spent an hour or so really trying to get the weight of the bow onto my back, spawned by a thread started by Yorker I believe...

How important is a QUIET BH to YOU?

For many I know, myself included, little items/areas of equipment tuning can seem like looking for the Holy Grail. One of the first and earliest (in the life of an archer) is to find the sweet-spot, or quiet spot of the brace height and much has been written about it. But as I intend now to go...

string nock fit- correction of loop serving to lie in groove properly

A couple of the several strings I've had made for me or bought off the shelf just don't want to sit properly in the nock groove of the limbs... at the point where the two end loop halves meet the serving down the string ( if you can grasp what I' mean)..and that's just not right. I am so close...

    Longrod- what Should it do?

It's interesting the different ideas I get back from people when I ask: What is/are the job/s of the longrod and it's weighting on a recurve bow. in order of priority- assuming you are after the best score you can get- I would reply (5) to counter hand or technique torque. (10) to produce...
