"Archers' Knife"???

A friend (non-archer) presented me with this.

Apparently it was bought many years ago at a market/craft fair in the south of France & was described by the seller as an archers' knife (presumably bow hunter?)

Has anyone got any insights into whether this is correct, or anything else about the object?

This the only 'makers' mark' on the thing

Looks like a karambit to me - check out Doug Marcaida, an expert in Philippino martial arts especially kali and a maker of stunning knives. He markets a range of karambit knives in differing styles too.

I was going to say that hooked blades, like that, are usually found on 'fighting' knives. Designed for slashing. Might make a good skinning tool. It looks like it would try to twist if you used it to dig out a pile though?

Doesn't look very friendly!
Just picked up (to replace a lost one) an S90V (super steel) Manly Wasp - wickedly sharp and a bit of a bargain too.
