It’s signed for, I don’t think there’s much you can do about it now unless it affected the medal placing.

You *could* ping the organisers and ask them that although you know you've signed for the score, and therefore it should stand, you have noticed a couple of errors and would they mind having a look.

I think your totals are out for line 4, you have 49 not 69 so the total should be 99 not 119 :(, other post didn't show before I put this in.

I'm going to send the pic to the competition secretary, as soon as I get back from the morning dog-walk.

It didn't affect medal positions at all for me, but the lady BBer on my boss did win both individual & team medals, so it could become a serious issue if there are errors on the other archers sheets.

My main issue is, I can't actually see the scores on the sheet with my contacts in, they are for distance work only. I only spotted the errors after I got home & transferred the scores from the photo to Artemis.

Yep, that's the reason I always try and do the scores myself, or score them concurrently on my app if I'm not doing them. I've seen too many people add things up wrong, even with a calculator. (Sometimes ESPECIALLY with a calculator!) I think the problem is, the brain sees what it expects to see, not what is actually there.
Difficult if one can't see the score sheet at all, though. If I'm shooting outdoors with my distance glasses on (I only need them over 40yds), I have to change back to my varifocals for scoring. Eyes are a damn nuisance when they don't work right.

I use only one contact lens - I only use one eye to shoot, and then close it to score. At the end of the day you've signed for that score, and you shouldn't have so you need to find a way for that not to happen again.

I need both lenses in to drive legally (& safely!).

- perhaps cheapo reading specs & my 10.6" android tab (Artemis pro) before signing?

I have until next Sunday (unconfirmed) to work it out.

You can always ask someone else to check your scores for you. I would have no issues if asked to do so for someone else. The worst that can happen is they say no.

Reading specs in your prescription will work
No, not on top of contacts they don't! I have 2 pairs of prescription glasses, one for 'computer work' (focused at about double reading distance) the other for driving. I only wear contacts for archery, they are daily disposables bought cheaply online & are the same prescription as I used in Holland i.e. over 8 years ago. There is no NHS (free) support available for lenses & it's too expensive for private - around £40/m!)

ask someone else to check your scores
Funny you should say that, I just got this email...

Hi Aslan,

Thanks for the information. We have checked the score card of the lady concerned and it is added up correctly. I must point out to you again what was stated at the assembly it is each archers responsibility to check that the scorer has correctly recorded their arrow hits, and added them up correctly. If you are unable to do so in future please ask another archer to check the score card on your behalf,

Regards Charles E Hall Judge in Charge.
So, NFA then.

Would it be possible to use the lenses for shooting, and then remove them in order to check the score before submitting the sheets? I know that when I wore contact lenses, I got used to removing them almost instantly without a mirror, and perhaps then you could go to your glasses?

Unfortunately not Emma, with my big fingers & smallish eyes I deffo need a close mirror & good lighting to deal with lenses. Not to mention parking space for the glasses, fluid & cases - and a hankie or two ;)

Also, that won't help when it comes to double-round all-day outdoors events.

Don't worry, it'll get solved, one way or another.

I also use contact lenses when I shoot (and at other times) and I was recommended (by the contact lens specialist) to purchase a cheap pair of +1 reading glasses for "close-up" work like reading or writing. He suggested I go to a superstore as the optician's offerings were overpriced. I did exactly this and am now able to use my lenses when shooting and throw the "cheaters" on when scoring. I have two pairs that cost me about a tenner, one is +1 the other is +1.5. Both work well enough that I can read a score sheet.

The glasses just sit in the quiver and I can grab them as I am walking to the boss to score.

Got confirmation earlier that I have got a place in Sundays' Green Lane Stafford :D

The only bugger is, no way to practice :(

Our hall can only do 20 yds.

So I had to be content with an evening of Portsmouth, fine tuning my sights, trying to take it at 'competition pace'. It was going pretty well too - until a nock exploded during a shot 💥

The arrow went about six feet forward & eight feet left, I damned near SHAT m'sel :poop:

Thankfully, no sign of any damage to the limbs (as inspected by our armourer). I had spare nocks with me but I just swapped arrows - plenty of time for a close-up inspection of the pin & shaft in the morning.

I'd hazard a guess that the nock had been 'stroked' by another arrow on the previous end - I might not be able to see where arrows are landing (unless it's in the Gold) but I can always hear a stroker, and I was hearing it pretty often tonight. Yes, nice tight groups, several of them all-gold ends.

Reckon I really do have a realistic chance of a competition 500 this time, even without over-enthusiastic maths, and in a round I haven't ever shot indoors before - even outdoors I've only shot it (nearly) twice, it was part of the end-of-season 'triple crown' compo at my former club, alongside a Bray II & a WA18.

So yeah, the 'good vibes' from last Sunday are still buzzin' me along, I know I'm gonna have an enjoyable time no matter how I shoot.

Footnote: When it came to going home time, the limbs were harder - much harder - than usual to slide from the riser. The semi-dry-fire must have shocked the dovetails a tad, I might have to do just a tiny bit of gentle sanding before Sunday.

Don't be too quick on the sand paper. Check the indent pin where the limb locates. A dry fire may have bent/damaged it slightly so it's not so quick to release.

Spent the whole evening tweaking & twiddling, cleaning & lubing.

- Including replacing the pin on the 'exploding' arrow & re-gluing a vane on the arrow that presumably hit it.

Had some more good news (everybody) tonight too - my usual club boss-mate did his first compo today, the County Novice Champs, and picked up a bronze :D

Ready as I'll ever be for what will most likely be the last indoor compo of the (new?) year.
