Insert v Outsert Drag

Hi All,
I have long wondered if outsert nocks have a detrimental effect on arrow drag
due to the increased diameter or not.
I suspect not but would appreciate comment from any one who has definite information on this.

Having had a long conversation with an aeronautics engineer.

The longer the leading edge of a fletching the more the drag.

Turbulence caused by the fletchings will stretch out behind the arrow, so seen as the outsert nock is bang in this turbulence zone I would think it makes very little difference.

At the recent talk by Mr Beiter held at Quicks this question was asked and his answer was much the same as Simon's.

Best wishes, Mark

The boundary layer flow is turbulent most of the way along the arrow anyway. There will be no noticeable difference in drag with an insert of outsert nock.
