My First Field Shoot

Well, I was brave and did my first field shoot yesterday. It was a GNAS marked course (I think) over 16 targets.

The field guys at the club laughed because they said it wasn't "real field" archery, but hey, a girl's got to start somewhere.

And I came second, so I was happy. I may even do another one!

I can't comment on the difficulty of the course, or terrain, or anything - but the sandwiches and cake were top notch!

Well done Micky.

Marked distance is a good way to start, you have enough new things to worry about on your first field shoot.

Hope you enjoyed the shoot, if you did, have a look at the EFAA website, http://www.efaafieldarcher.com/ and the NFAS one, http://www.nfas.net/. There are field shoots on most weeks in various places.

NFAS is all unmarked distances with animal faces and 3Ds. EFAA is a mix of marked and unmarked at roundels, animal faces and 3Ds.

Well done Micky.

If you fancy a "real field" shoot, keep an eye out for Dearne Valley's Easter shoot. Two days, first day unmarked, it's definitely different.

Can't guarantee the sarnies and cakes, but always a decent bacon butty.

If you decide to enter I can always bake one of my Chocolate/Orange Fudge cakes. :cake: That goes for all board members.

No - didn't wear my whites, although it did feel VERY strange to be going to a shoot in jeans!

And I felt all nekkid without my tent, chair, kitbag, foodbag etc :D
