String material for Tradbow

The bow I use for field archery is a takedown tradbow, using a 17" wood ILF riser (Timber creek copperhead) with medium Carbon Bam-Boom limbs to make a 40# 60" bow. I do have a set of Uukha Saiga limbs on order as I'm a big fan of Uukha using X-curves on my recurve.

I'm about to make a new string for the tradbow and have a choice of FF+ or 8125G, I have always used FF+ on this bow as I shoot wood arrows with it of course, but I'm tempted to try 8125G for that very small extra bit of speed. Opinions please.

I would make up an identical string with each and try them out - you will know which one suits you best!

To be honest I would have thought the difference between the two would be so minimal as to not matter.

I think the FF+ will give a softer shot & the 8125G will be faster!

Similar stretch characteristics to both although breaking strain & strand diameters (0.014"/0.018")are different
& therefore serving thickness required may differ or pack extra strands under the serving,
.... 14 strand 8125G is equivalent to a 18 strand FF+.
