Pressure button...?

Firstly - I'm quite new this time around but plan on sticking with it providing I stay injury free. Recurve 28# limbs. Entry level, basic kit.

Before last night I had a Worcester PB of 230 on my club night. I shot 222 in my first ever comp at the weekend.

Last night though, I forgot to fit the pressure button - and shot 242.

I'm just wondering what benefit the button is supposed to bring, and should I bother with it.... Is it more likely that I just hadn't fitted it properly ?

It sounds like the button is not setup properly, it could be spring tension or center shot.
Or possibly incorrect spine of your arrows.

What do you mean by "center shot"?

Spine of the arrows....? So when I got the kit the arrows that came with it were for 34# limbs. As I'm now shooting 28# are you saying I need weight appropriate arrows?

Have a look at the Easton tuning guide (free and downloadable). Centreshot is how off centre your arrow is as it sits on the string and on your arrow rest.
It looks like your arrows maybe too stiff (not bending enough) for your current poundage.
